Dating profile examples—check out some ideas for making your job stand out

Seeing different examples of jobs for your profile make personalizing yours even easier

In our last post we talked about how to approach your main profile write up, where you talk about your job and interests. We covered how important it is to write in a conversational style and use what Fuentes calls “bubble words”.

We have a bunch of great copy-and-paste examples of these in Magnetic Profiles, but I wanted to share a couple with you here on the site so you would have something to reference if you haven’t picked up a copy of the book yet.

These are two jobs that a lot of people have, and it can be tough figuring out how to approach them in the manner we’re talking about. Take a look:

Teacher: My parents wanted me to be a doctor, but I knew I was going to follow in the footsteps of my Grandmother and become a teacher. At eight I was tutoring the neighbor kids, at ten I was sucking up to my teachers and cleaning the chalkboard. I tutored and coached through college, and got a job teaching. Since then I’ve been warping little minds all over the world. If some kid ever tells you that the pyramids were build by aliens, that was me. Teaching for me is about changing lives and hopefully being an inspiration to my students. Most of us have had a teacher who made a difference in our lives. I want to be that teacher.

Accountant: Ever since I was a kid I’ve been fascinated by all kinds of things. My parents took me to the zoo and we played in parks. I’ve had my share of swimming lessons and I went through a dinosaur stage. But numbers seemed to come naturally to me. I still add 2 +2 to get 22 sometimes. 🙂 So always one to go with my heart, I’m in the accounting field. I love being able to make a difference in people’s lives.

Describing your job in your profile in a conversational way is very effective

Do you see how they come across really easy-going and conversational? And they show an underlying passion for what you do for a living, which really resonates with a woman. Now I know you might not actually be passionate about the job you have, but it’s best not to paint that picture right here in your profile. Maybe you’re in transition and are doing something trivial in the switch? Well, you can spin that the exact same way.

Use this style in your own profile to make you stand out

This is a short entry; I just wanted to give you a couple examples to illustrate what we talked about earlier this week. Feel free to use the dating profile example sections shown here, as well as the others in Magnetic Profiles. If you want to try some on your own and need feedback, or would like one written specifically for you, check out my coaching programs.
