Online dating advice -Tips to stand out from the crowd

how to stand out when online dating
I took a look through youtube to find a video with decent online dating advice that wasn’t trying to sell you some half-cocked “system”.

I’ll get a general video up in the next month, promise… but until then, I’ve got one here that’s has good general advice and kinda follows from yesterday’s post where we talked about getting back to the fundamentals of online dating.

They make some good points that will help you meet more women online, and with what you’re learning from me on this blog, it will be a nice refresher for you.

I’ll recap the video here for you:

Online dating tip #1
Know what you’re looking for.

The first thing to do is to decide what kind of relationship you’re looking for. Something long-term, a friendship (Heaven forbid), or someone to date casually.

This makes good sense to me. If you know what you want, it’s a lot easier to find it. And if you don’t know what you want, you’ll find a whole lot of that too.

Advice for online dating #2
Tell the truth with your pictures and your profile.

I have my own ideas on this, and you can see my final thoughts here, but they say some stuff worth repeating…

One, put up a recent picture. It doesn’t do any good to advertise yourself as someone you aren’t. Whether it’s in your online dating profile or your pictures.

Yes, it might keep them interested for the time being, but if you look way different than your pictures, they’re going to walk out on you when you meet. Or having a 4 year old profile picture is going to make you to afraid to meet them in the first place.

They also recommend that you DON’T put in pictures with your car, kids, or pets.

Online dating tip #3
Before starting a search, have some Non-Negotiables.

Before even looking in your inbox to see who emailed you… and before even checking out your search results, pick 3 automatic deal breakers.

Decide on three things that no matter what else, you’re going to pass that woman over. Examples are things like smoking, age, or living too far apart.

Advice for online dating #4
Don’t invest a lot of time before meeting.
This means no long emails right off the bat. Write them short, sweet, and to the point. If someone’s interested in you, they’ll write back.

And writing long emails to someone you’ve never met sends the message that you have no life. that you have nothing better to do than blab on and on to some stranger. It reeks of desperation.
